UMCOR - Hurricane HarveyHurricanes Harvey & Irma

Many are asking about what to do to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey and/or Hurricane Irma.

Please pray for all of those whose lives have been impacted by both these hurricanes. Please pray also for Early Response Teams, disaster coordinators, and the many volunteers who are working tirelessly to provide relief.

The United Methodist Committee on Relief, or UMCOR, has been a permanent part of the General Board of Global Ministries since 1972. Since then, UMCOR has provided relief to survivors of earthquakes in Haiti and Chile; floods in Pakistan; and the 2011 tsunami, earthquake, and nuclear threat in Japan; their field office in Afghanistan has helped rebuild communities torn apart by decades of war, and have provided long-term recovery aid to communities in the US South devastated by hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav, and Ike, and now most recently, Hurricane Harvey.

Administrative costs of UMCOR are already covered, so 100% of every dollar you donate to UMCOR will go towards actual disaster relief and recovery efforts.

To make a donation for Hurricane disaster response,

  1. Make checks out to "Valpo FUMC" and be sure to designate "Hurricane Relief" on the memo line of your check. Bring checks to the church office or place in the offering baskets on Sunday.
