Youth Ministries - "Youth Group"
About Us

Youth Group

While we are waiting for the process of hiring a new Director of Student Ministries, we are combining both our Middle School and High School Youth Groups for the time being. Here's when we meet:

  • Sunday School - Meets every Sunday at 9:15 a.m. on the 2nd floor of our Asbury building, located right across Chicago Street from our main church building. We talk about the Bible in the context of our lives. Donuts and juice are always served!
  • Youth Choir - Everyone is welcome to join! Youth Choir is meeting right now on Sunday afternoons from 1:45 - 3:00 p.m. on the 2nd floor of our Asbury building.
  • Youth Group - Our Combined Middle/High School Youth Group meets on Sunday afternoons from 3:00 - 4:15 p.m. on the lower level of our Asbury building. Youth Group is CONVENIENTLY schedule to meet right after Youth Choir, so why not participate in both?
  • Hang Time - Meets every Wednesday from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. at Uptown Cafe, located at 1400 Lincolnway in Valparaiso. Hang out with friends or bring homework and a few dollars for something to eat or drink, if you'd like. This is a really good time to reconnect with friends and build relationships during the week.

Coming Events

Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017
We are planning a special TWO HOUR party starting at 3 p.m. at Asbury. There will be games, door prizes and really good food. We are planning to serve meatballs and chicken wings and other finger foods. Parents, we would love to have you bring a snack to share with the group, if you're able.

Look!

9/20/2017 - This past Sunday, the youth assembled 50 hygiene kits for UMCOR. John created a video on the Youth Facebook page here.

Become a Youth Volunteer

If you want to make a difference in the world, are an adult who cares about teenagers, and are a dedicated follower of Jesus, then you are "pre-qualified" to be a youth volunteer! It's not as difficult as it seems! You don't have to be cool - or know what's cool - to be someone that our youth can look to for guidance and support! In 2013, 59% of Christians between the ages of 18 and 30 who were still active in their church said that having a relationship with a caring adult in their church was the biggest factor in their Christian faith! If you are willing to join our team, we would love to have you join us in helping young people grow closer to God. Email youth@valpofumc.org and let us know you are interested!
